Theatre Productions that Celebrate Life
Vihaan’s theatre is not merely to be seen — it is to be felt, lived, and remembered.
From the moment the first note rises or the first foot taps the floor, a Vihaan play becomes an experience: full of rhythm, colour, laughter, and emotion. Our productions are known for their musicality, interactive spirit, ensemble energy, and theatrical richness. They bring the stage alive like a festival — joyful yet thoughtful, timeless yet urgent.
At the heart of this vision is Sourabh Anant — writer, director, dramaturge, and founder of Vihaan. His plays carry a rare depth of purpose and poetics, inviting audiences into landscapes where the spiritual and the political, the classical and the contemporary, all converse. His direction is not just craft — it is a calling.
The sound of Vihaan is imagined and brought alive by Hemant Deolekar, music director, lyricist, and composer par excellence. For us, songs are not ornaments — they are dialogue, pulse, and spirit. Hemant's compositions give voice to silence and soul to story. His theatre music is among the most distinctive in Indian performance today — listening becomes an act of immersion.
The texture and visual language of our plays are shaped by Shweta Ketkar — actor-trainer, designer, and production lead since Vihaan’s inception. From costume and character craft to makeup, staging, and intricate production design, she transforms every detail into meaning. Her aesthetic sharpness and unwavering commitment make Vihaan’s work not just theatrical but truly cinematic in feel — always a visual treat.
Across languages, cultures, and geographies, our plays have resonated with diverse audiences — children, adults, educators, artists, and seekers. With strong narratives, vibrant aesthetics, live music, movement, humour, and heart, Vihaan’s works transcend barriers of language and region. This is theatre that connects deeply — from the village square to the urban amphitheatre.
Rooted in Indian performance traditions and influenced by contemporary global methods, our productions are a synthesis of rasa, craft, and intention. Every play becomes a portal: it invites reflection, nurtures imagination, and builds lasting emotional connection.
Audiences often leave saying:
“I didn’t just watch a play — I felt something awaken inside me.”
or
“This is the kind of theatre that made me fall in love with theatre again.”
From the lyrical grace of Kanupriya and the childlike wonder of Totto Chan, to the sharp classical satire of Hasyachoodamani and the stirring political journey of Gandhi Gaatha, our theatre productions traverse a wide spectrum of genres and emotions. Whether it's a musical epic like Shivaji (featuring 250 children), a poetic retelling like Raidas, or a wildly humorous yet tender piece like Charandas Chor, each of our plays is a testament to excellence, ensemble spirit, and meaningful storytelling.
These are not just performances.
These are celebrations of art, education, and human possibility.
