The first play designed and directed by Sourabh Anant, staged on 21st July 2011, shaped up like a quiet dawn and a bold dream. The only curiosity then was to live and perform the magic of theatre through Kanupriya. That moment sparked something larger than the play itself—it was the beginning of a culture, a movement, a vision.

This vision soon took the shape of a space—open, fearless, and charged with artistic energy. A place where young minds could explore and express their inner art, where ideas could meet action. Gradually, Vihaan began taking form—not just as a theatre group, but as a creative ecosystem where theatre, music, dance, design, film, photography, literature, and learning coexisted. It became a space where discipline met freedom, and tradition met contemporary exploration.

But the dream didn’t end there. The spirit of Vihaan reached outwards—connecting with local and global cultures, collaborating across languages and geographies, always rooted in the soil yet looking at the stars. Performances moved across schools, festivals, cities, villages, and even countries. The plays spoke to children and elders alike, to connoisseurs and first-timers—bridging hearts through stories.

Sourabh’s dream began to echo in others’ hearts. When Shweta Ketkar and Hemant Deolekar joined in, Vihaan found not just hands, but hearts that nurtured it. Together, they shaped not only a structure—but a soul.
